Hoanib Valley Camp 1 May 2021

Hoanib (pronounce (WHA-NIB) Valley Camp is very special

We were welcomed in song by the entire staff team and given a campsite orientation complete with all the correct COVID 19 protocols and then guided to our luxury tents.

These unique tents and the entire camp blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings. Some of the furniture is shaped by the local Himba carvers and Rundu carpenters while the baskets are weaved by the people of the Omba Project in Windhoek.

The beautifully appointed Luxury Tents are set on decks

which are made of bamboo, wood, and 70% recycled-material composite.

This camp is entirely solar powered.

Our afternoon was spent either at the pool or showers  and some quiet time to catch up on various tasks.

Barry and Jules had been working on a trip song – to the tune of “Knocking on heavens door” so in the evening before dinner it was played – the song included all the folk on the tour and named all the staff from the Hoanib valley camp – it went down a treat.

We had the most wonderful dinner complete with celebration in song and  cake for Andre & Lizzy birthdays and Adie & Rentia Anniversary.

so it was requested that a shortened version (focused on the camp & staff ) be sung in the morning just before we left camp

but first thing in the morning was a pilates session

and then breakfast and finally the farewell song in recognition of the Hoanib Valley Camp staff
