Todays planned 17km eventually became a 21 km and instead of the municipal Alberque in Outeira we are in a much more comfortable hotel – Hotel Casa de Casal in Lestedo. A big plus is we are now only 13 km from Santiago de Compostela. This should take us about 3 hours depending on how many photographs are needing to be taken š
The day started as normal in the dark before sunrise ⦠and then the sunriseā¦

The way markers and benches weave a sense of support and confidence in a world where we are strangers and donāt know the language in the one hand. Then in the other hand we are the same – we are friends – we can smile and share – we can help and we can be helped.
Today in the coffee shop before dawn we learnt that asking for coffee with milk to go is ācafe con leche para llevarā as two gruff burly Spaniards in the coffee shop helped us correctly place the order – āllā is like y in yellow so it sounds like āpara yevar ā

The process of camino as in life always includes reading the signs – some are subtle others are not so subtle – there is no debate on this oneā¦

And then this one at the top of a steep downhill needed some interpretationā¦
One of the debates yesterday hinged around Barry carrying the haversack or trying to find transport. When transport could not be found it was agreed that Barry would carry but would be honest and not mess up the right knee. Then the debate became how Jules could carry the heavier weights and Barry the lighter. And so we set out this morning with Barry carrying some of the toiletries that were in the heavy classification category. After stopping at Dornelas for the ā5km restā Barryās bag decided to fall and spilled out all the heat y items from the top section that had been opened – this was regarded as a clear sign that Jules needed to carry these items. š and so she did

Some beautiful cosmos but along the way

Some lovely inverted yellow flowers

We eventually arrived at Punte Ulle – the bridge across the Ulle is beautiful and old

After the bridge we met up with Peter Mareā from holland who we had met at the Alberque last night

We decided to not stay at Outeria at the municipal Alberque and move on a further 4 Km to Lestedo š – below is a pic of Barry entering Lestedo

A subject that was discussed over the last few days is the impact of instincts on personality – this does need to be written as it is interesting
