The road up to Mazabuka was good but then it deteriorates just after Coffeeberry – The road is being worked on so there are many diversions.
We stopped at Coffeeberry cafe after Mazabuka – it has gone down since our last visit there in Nov 2018 – still ok but become very basic – still is an ok place to stop and catch ones breathe and get a fresh cuppa.
The roads are full of trucks heading in both directions – the truck drivers on the whole are really good and helpful in allowing passing
The Road from the Turnpike (T1 & T2) down toward Chirunda is good with some potholes but manageable.. It takes just over two hours from the turnpike to Siavonga.
Along the roadside are a myriad of different shopping opportunities
Arriving in Siavonga was exciting
We met our new hosts Tom & Jo Peschen and their family who are managing Eagles Rest and because there was no accommodation available to us (as we overlapped with other work awayers – Sophia & Hermione) so we chose our own campsite – what a great site.
It was nightfall when we arrived so this was the first view from our campsite
